What is DotA?
DotA is the acronym of- Defense Of The Ancients(DotA). It is a custom scenario for Warcraft III: The Frozen throne, based on the ‘Aeon of Strife’ map for StarCraft. Defense of the Ancients involves team work and strategy. It can be played as a 5 vs 5 multi player on a network. Few people test their might upon the infamous AI bots to experience the magic of superheroes in DotA.
Thanks to GG-Game.com for providing the wonderful “GG-client” without which it would have been impossible to get DotA accepted the way it is today worldwide. The success of DotA could be replicated by few other upcoming multiplayer games with Indian content. A DotA version where Indian mythological characters fight each other would be a treat to play.
We start off our endeavour with the DotA online tourney exclusively focussing on giving the new clans in India to test out their skills against the serious clans. The round robin formats give ample scope for each team to try and qualify for the LAN finals in hyderabad.
Online tournaments also provide a chance for gamers in Tier II and Tier III cities where ESWC or WCG might not reach out to. Some so called dead gaming cities are supposedly having more than 500 gamers playing in cafe’s every day. Gaming is never dead in any city, it only goes into hibernation when the visible superstars take a break; or when the local tourneys become insignificant.
We hope our participants all the best for the tourney.
